We met with him to let him tell us a bit about his professional life and how he is changing the tourism and restaurant industry scenario.
How has the communication scenario related to the restaurant and hospitality industry changed in recent years?
Infinite modes and multiple channels have created more awareness in the user but also more "butterfly flights" of the consumer. Since it is difficult to create linear funnels, we must learn to communicate outside the box by not precluding any touch points.
Communication has become increasingly democratic. This is evidenced by tools that are increasingly intuitive to use in both visual and content management. È at this point still important to talk about training and why?
There is no shortage of technicalities and training in this regard. There is a need to acquire expertise on why you put those particular actions in place. The less "I teach you how to make a page on FB, the more I explain what FB is for."
What professions are most in demand in the Food and Beverage Management industry?
It might seem that the most in-demand professions are chefs, waiters, and dishwashers. Actually, no. In fact, this is the time to demand good entrepreneurs, then everything else will come, but it is necessary for the Italian system to equip itself with entrepreneurs who understand what a marketing strategy is and especially how to apply it.
What skills do you need to have to fill the roles that industry communication provides?
Listening skills. A listening, however, not passive, but proactive listening to the people in front of us who are our customers and potential customers.
But also skills in the use of listening techniques on digital media.
What do you recommend to those who are passionate about food industry communication and are looking for an educational path?
Broadening one's vision: philosophy, psychology, history, film, and literature. Along with, of course, a good Master's degree!
What do the students who participate in your Food and Beverage Manager Master's program learn?
I will teach them about marketing, and I can tell you right now that I will not succeed-I will give important inputs to go into certain topics in depth and I will certainly be able to give them tools to be able to talk to professionals.
