Summer of sunshine and sunset toasts. Wine, it is known, never goes on vacation and indeed accompanies the summers of those who enjoy succulent dinners on boats or the beach.
But what are the best wines in the world? Among the 50 collected in a ranking of gazillion by Luca Gardini, one of the most experienced wine communicators in Italy, here are the three winners.
The top spot of the world's best wines goes to Willi Schaefer's German Mosel Riesling 2015
A wine with "great personality," from an extraordinary vintage, 2015, and in an area that offers the longest-lived white wines in the land.
The Riesling is a savory and fruity wine with tropical notes, sweet, but balanced by citrus tension and very persistent.
Silver medal for Neri's Casanova
Down one position, but holding onto the podium in the ranking, this wine, which until last year was first along with the Cerretalto 2010 and remains on the podium with the Brunello Tenuta Nuova 2012.
Third place for Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2015
On the podium of the best wines in the world there is finally a French wine, holding high the flag of the Bordeaux. "Taste dense, never too tough. Dusty tannin. Spacious persistence" is what is written about this all-too-common sipping wine.
