It is called Dominique Crenn and it is the best female chef of 2016, crowned by the The World's 50 Best Restaurants with an award presented at an official ceremony last June in New York.
The French-born chef now runs two of Sanm Francisco's finest restaurants, Atelier Crenn and Petit Crenn, where as many as 19 people work under her leadership.

Dominique Crenn's studies.

He began his studies in Paris, Dominique, where, on the family estates, he learned to appreciate good food, nature, and seasonal ingredients, and where he began to familiarize himself with cooking through the teachings of his mother and grandmother.
Later he works under the supervision of Jeremiah Tower e Mark Franz and later directing the kitchens in Indonesia and to San Francisco, before opening his project in America in 2011 and quickly becoming the best female chef 2016.

L'Atelier Crenn

Dominique's restaurant, theAtelier Crenn is now one of the best restaurants in the California city and already boasts two Michelin stars. A magical place where one must stop at least once in a lifetime. Because the Parisian chef has created a space that is a kind of temple of cuisine and literature, combining the taste that tickles the taste buds with the pleasure of poetry that caresses the soul.

Talking to Dominique is not easy: shy and reserved, she prefers the creative space of her kitchens to the limelight, although her being a woman in a predominantly male-dominated profession for so long has brought out her courage and character to be a speaker at the Parabere International Forum, the first one dedicated to women.
Concentration, art, cooking and literature and then looks, people: because eating means first of all sharing, being together, knowing each other and getting to know each other.

Dominique's culinary poetic

This is how Dominique defines her cooking: a real way of thinking I call "Poetic culinary," it is a way of thinking and working, with an always very personal and emotional approach to a profession that is technique and passion together; an art that is inspired every day by beauty, music, nature, the small great riches that a human being can and should appreciate.

The word, poetry, as well as music are for Dominique not only a source of inspiration but an important means of communication and reflection, and all of this, according to his modus operandi, inevitably falls within and marries with his culinary art, a true poetic suggestion.

A kitchen that embraces the environment

Although Dominique is of the opinion that the word organic is now overused, the 2016 Best Female Chef believes it is important to have a relationship with local producers and to pay attention to the local area and use genuine raw materials that are the result of seasonality and the peculiarities of a place.
