Who is the Food Stylist.
The Food Stylist is an artist, who often has behind him a culinary training, whose job is to make the fresh food and appetizing by photograph.
This professional, who works closely with the Food Photographer, knows very well how foods behave, as well as the tricks and techniques for create beautiful dishes, without compromising or contaminating the integrity of the dish.
Assuming that there is no right or wrong way to do the food styling and that much changes depending on taste and the photographer and the result you want to achieve, certainly important are the "tools of the trade."
There are basic tools that are often used:
1. Tweezers.
They are used to place small ingredients, which are difficult to move with bare hands, such as mint leaves, sesame seeds, rice grains, etc... Also, they are used a lot to reposition things on the plate.
2. Bowls and ramekins.
They are most useful for holding toppings and sauces on hand. They can also serve to increase the volume of food.
3. Paper napkins.
They are used to clean drips from dishes and can be used under the dish to catch any drips.
4. Plastic spoons.
They are used for stirring sauces, applying them to dishes, and because they are so light, they are easier to handle than metal ones.
5. Water.
Spray water is used to give an extra touch of freshness to foods, especially fruits and vegetables, giving a "dewy" effect, which is very striking then in photos.
6. Grater and cheese grater.
They serve to give a touch on the plates of matter, which is evenly distributed.
